Places I've been

All photos taken by me.   (Just thought I 'd throw that in)  : )

Anchorage, Alaska

  (7(?)/1972, 5/1985, 8/1989, 10/1996)

Talk about getting down to Earth.
Forests, rivers, lakes, glaciers, mountains - you name it.
Alaska is a bit cold, but you can't beat the outdoors. I
came here just after I graduated high school (1985). One of my
cousins had Chicken Pox. I'd never had Chicken Pox. You do
the math.
One of the nice things about being this far north is that it's still
light out at 1am. You get to play longer! Cool!

San Francisco, California

  (7/93, 1/2003, 10/2005)

Oops! Most of the pics I took in 1993 are on slides and have yet to
be scanned. But it was very photogenic, trust me!

Stayed here a couple of nights in 1/2003, and again in 10/2005.
Pictures are in the "Vegas Trip 2003" and "San Francisco 2005" sections.

Reno, Nevada

  (10/94, 1/2003)

I was here for about 4 hours in 1994 - stopover on the way to LA...
On the bright side, I won $12 playing airport slot machines! Yes!
I stayed overnight here in 2003, too.

Los Angeles, California

  (10/94, 9/95, 10/98, 1999-2001, 1/2003, 4/2004)

Ahhhhhhh, the California sun...Whatta life!
A benefit of having friends living in the sun belt is
getting to crash for free! (Hi Jon and John!)
Love those beaches...and the associated bodies.....Aaarrrrooooo!

$33 for the tour? FORGET IT!

Salt Lake City, Utah

  (5/96)

On the way to San Diego, this was the stopover.
This is the Great Salt Lake.
Either that, or somebody's toilet backed up.

San Diego, California

  (5/96, 12/98, 2/1999-10/2001, 1/2003, 4/2004)

Oh man! The beaches! The city! THE SUN!
Dave wants to live here.
Dave WILL live here.
( Update February, 1999: Dave DOES live here )
( Update October, 2001: Dave moved back to Seattle, but he misses San Diego )
My first trip here lasted only 4-1/2 days, but I had a great time. It was
72 degrees (F) every day, and sunny. God was it nice!
(I went to Black's Beach 3 out of 4 days...Nothing like that in Seattle...)

Look at that sun! I gotta have some!

Boston, Massachusetts/Provincetown, Massachusetts

  (7/96)

My first trip to the East Coast was very fast - only 4 days. It was fast
but nice. Boston has character. Buildings there range in age by several
hundred years. By contrast, Seattle's historical landmarks barely make it 150 years.
Boston also, obviously, contains a lot of US history. I saw the house Paul Revere
left on his midnight ride. I followed his path to the North Church where he ended the ride.
I saw a 200 year old US battleship on the verge of a historical re-launching (it was launched
on July 4, 1997). Plus, I really liked the people here. And Provincetown was a hoot!
I'd love to spend more $ there! Party time!

Pristine, eh?

Downtown Boston. Fantastic contrasts in architecture -- old and new.

The USS Constitution - re-constituted and going strong at over 200 years of age!

Portland, Oregon

  (I've been here several times)

Portland is about three hours south of Seattle.
Portland is such a beautiful city. Riverside Park runs along the waterfront.

xx
I took this picture from the inside of my car while driving on the freeway, heading
from San Diego to Seattle in September, 2000.

Phoenix, Arizona

  (I've been here several times)

I've been in Phoenix several times, most recently in 4/2004. Nice place, and HOT!

I like coming down for Mariners spring training games, and now my cousin, Sarah,
lives here, too! She went to Arizona State University and her graduation (in 2001?)
was my first trip here. Some pics from spring training can be found here.

Sonoma County Wine Country, Northern California

  6/2006 (plus a drive-through in 2003)

A friend (Greg) and I spent a week in Sonoma County, doing many wine tastings
and lots of sight-seeing.

Description and pictures can be found here.

That's not quite the end...

I've been all over the west coast of the US, with the
exception of Hawaii (it's on my list...) but I don't have
space for all the pictures. More will follow as my travel
life progresses.
